  • Skip the night cream !

Stimulate your skins moisture factory by saying goodbye to night creams !

According to Dr Hauschka, we should not use any cream or moisturizer at night. The two reasons for this are:

    • Creams or moisturizers at night interfere with the skin's toxin elimination process:

"The skin uses this period to excrete toxins absorbed during the day - so any products that interfere with these natural processes should be avoided."

“While you sleep your skin is actually hard at work regenerating itself, balancing oil production and expelling impurities. Regular application of night creams interferes with these essential tasks and over time skin becomes less able to care for itself. "

    • The skin gets product addicted:
"Covering the skin with moisturizer 24 hours a day sends a signal to sebaceous glands to cut down on moisture production, resulting in even drier skin that becomes dependent on moisturizing products just to appear normal."

According to Dr Hauschka, a healthy skin needs just cleansing and toning before sleep. Not using a cream or moisturizer at night allows the skin to use its own powers of regeneration.

Eeep ! I've been using a night cream for ages ! How can I stop ?

Just do it, and your skin will thank you. BTW I have never used a night cream. And my skin looks good !

Once you decide to take the leap and go off using night creams, your skin may take a while to normalize. So, if you feel tightness or dryness, don't give up. In a week or two your skin will start it's own moisture production. After all, you've been feeding it every night, so it got lazy and forgot how to. It may need a couple of days to get it's mechanism started.

So, anyone of you tried this out ? Do tell me about your experiences and tips !

This sounds interesting, I'd like to hear how it goes as well.

Me too, I do hope someone who'se done that pops in and comments !
I've never used a night cream myself, but I've heard some positive feedback from other girls who have tried laying off the night cream. One girl had noticed that she had made her skin "lazy" by using crams 24 hours a day: she said that it took much longer for a small wound to heal on her face than it one on her arm. So she decided to let her skin go naked at night and she seemed quite satisfied with the results.
