About Venusian*Glow
Q: Why the name ?
A: Venus is beauty, love, and all that is feminine. The Glow is the je ne sais quoi that you see in a woman who is in love with life, happy with who she is, and has a healthy body.
Q: What is the main idea behind the cosmetic advice that you give ?
A: To take care of your skin, you must understand what you are putting on your face. It's not enough to trust the promises on the packages. You must know a bit about the ingredients, how they work. Cosmetic companies are out to sell stuff, not to take care of your skin and hair.
Q: What is a big mistake that people make when caring for their skin ?
A: Not realising that the food you eat is responsible for 75% of the stuff that goes on in your skin. Make-up and skin care can only do so much.
Q: Why does anyone need to know about cosmetic ingredients ? What's wrong with just buying stuff ?
A. Two reasons:
* You want to choose products that actually work, and don't mess up your skin.
* 60% of what we put on our skin ends up inside our bodies. A lot of chemicals from cosmetics are responsible for our illnesses, and our skin problems. Unless a harmful ingredient is explicitly prohibited, mainstream cosmetic companies add it to their products; and they will continue to do so until we inform ourselves, make choices and vote through our purchases.
Q: Which cosmetics are better: mainstream, natural or home-made ?
A: You need to judge each cosmetic individually. Mainstream cosmetics are often cheaply produced, and are most likely to contain substances harmful for the skin of your health. So you need to be able to understand the label. Natural cosmetics usually have much less or no toxic ingredients, and are not animal tested. But you still need to read the label to make sure that you are not buying something that, say, will not dry your skin or block your pores. Home made stuff has the advantage that you have full control over what goes in, and you don't need to add preservatives. Apart from kitchen-shelf recipes, you can mix your own products from base ingredients that are available at the chemists or hobby cosmetic stores.
Q: Do you do product reviews ?
A: If you think it's something I might be interested in, go ahead and contact me, and I'll probably do it. However, I will write a positive review only if I like the item and would use it myself. Send a mail to: the_eternal_voyageur(at)rediffmail(dot)com
Q: Can I be a guest poster on your blog ?
A: I am on the lookout for guest posters on beauty, style, hooping, your bra fitting stories, travel, photography, life, EFT, inspiration, and more... You are be free to choose the topic, as long as it goes with the themes of this blog (eco-friendly, conscious choices, label-and-trend-free, individualism !)
If you are interested, drop me a line at the_eternal_voyageur(at)rediffmail(dot)com
Q: Would you do a guest post on my blog ?
A: Yes, I would, if I like your blog.
Q: What's with the bra obsession ?
A: I stare at women in the streets to see if their bras fit correctly. It's rare to find one that has the right bra, and finding my right size has made such a difference to me that I want to rescue all the breasts in the world ! What disses me off is that professional bra fitters often fit their clients wrong, because most stores just don't carry the full range of sizes.
Q: What's with the French spelling of Voyageur ? Are you French ?
A: No, not even a bit. The spelling started out as a mistake, but then I kind of started liking it.
Q: Is that your foot below ?
A: Actually yes. I love being barefoot !
Q: I have more questions...
A: Sure. I'll do my best to answer it well ! Drop me a line at the_eternal_voyageur(at)rediffmail(dot)com Unless you expressly ask me not too, I will answer your question as a post in my blog. Of course, I will not put up your name if you tell me not to.
